Poetry I.L.T.

Last week the grade did a I.L.T.  on poetry. So today I will be writing about the I.L.T., lets do this.

Poetry is a form of writing that expresses a person, it can rhyme or not, poetry can also come in different forms like a haiku, concrete poem, a limerick etc. People write poetry if they want to express themselves or if they get inspired by something. Over the five days of the I.L.T. we did terminology, we did poetry writing and we did analyzing poetry. Those are the things my group and I did now these were the individual tasks: imagery, blackout poetry and self reflection.

My personal best activity was the imagery, it was the best because  I love to draw and I think that it looked the best out of all the activities. My worst one was the poetry slam because I hate doing drama in front of people. The most challenging activity was the poetry slam because we did not really get time to practice because we had a lot to do with the other activities. I felt really really nervous performing in-front of everyone.

I learned new vocabulary during the I.L.T. , this is the new vocabulary I have learned: Stanza, onomatopoeia, consonance, assonance and analogy. I learned about myself that I can actually write a poem (But it does take time). My favorite poem was Tyger Tyger.

Precepts

We have been reading Wonder in English class, we read page 36-48 and on one of those pages there was a Precept it said, "When given the choice between being right or being kind choose kind." ,So today my blog is about precepts.

WHAT IS A PRECEPT?
a Precept is a general rule that helps you decide how you should behave in particular circumstances.

I chose this quote because it actually tells you why you must be kind and it tells people that it is not just BIG deeds that make people good, it is mostly small deeds that do the most.

A life of a kid in an informal settlement

A day in the life and home of a child in an informal settlement

This morning I woke up with freezing cold feet because it was raining last night and the water leaked through the rusty metal I felt tired because the noise last night kept me awake, it would be so much better if we had a house made of sandbags or bricks. I said to myself “Once I have breakfast I would be woken up.” This morning I had one cooked egg for breakfast and that was all. Once I’d finished eating my breakfast I took my purple bag, it had a big tear down the front so I had to watch that nothing falls out. But my mother, Mary, doesn’t have the right stuff to fix it. I saw that mom had already packed everything in. I put my bag on my back, said goodbye to mom and walked to school. When I walked outside, it was still dark because it takes 2 hours to get to school from my house, if only we did not live so far away. 1 Hour later I was walking across the river with my friend ,Benny, we got across the river but the river bank was covered with sharp rocks. Unfortunately we didn't have shoes so we had to walk across. By by the time we got to school our feet had 5 scrapes and 1 cut. We had to go to Sylvia, the medical assistant, she raped toilet paper around our feet because we don’t have bandages I wish we had shoes. When Sylvia was done the bell rang and we walked into our class an sat down on the floor oh it would be so much easier if we had tables and chairs. The teacher, Mrs Black, told us to take out our note book Benny and I had to share one since we did not have our own ones. 2 Hours later we went out to play we had a small playground with a jungle-jim and a seesaw and there is about 30 of us that have to play on them. When school was done I walked home with Benny of course we walked across the sharp rocks and the river I really wish we had shoes. When I got home and ate my dinner which was 1 piece of taken. Then I went to bed sleep. But I am grateful for what I have.

The Singing Inspector

The Singing Inspector

I’m Charles today I was sitting in my seat of the class when the singing inspector came in. He was wearing knickerbockers that looked too big for him he looked kind of like a detective, a kind detective. But he isn't he is a rotten apple. I sometimes wonder why he is so nasty. His green hat does not even match his clothes!

Suddenly the inspector called Benny and I up on stage. He said “You two must sing.”
We were silent until he said “You must sing! “We can sing pretty poll.” I said very embarrassed.
He really upset me when he said “What a wast of time you voiceless idiots!”

Shipwreck of the BOS 400

My class did a project on shipwrecks we all had to choose our own ships. I chose the BOS 400 because it is from South Africa and because it has a great story to it. This shipwreck is located near Sandy bay. The shipwreck happened like this The tow-rope broke loose during a storm and causing the vessel to run aground off Duiker Point near Sandy Bay were she has been lying ever since.  The link I used to find this out is http://www.amusingplanet.com/2014/04/12-famous-shipwrecks-that-y ou-can-still.html
